will require Welsh businesses, public and third-sector workplaces to separate key recyclable materials collected from all workplaces.
Included within the scope of these new laws are the disposal of used toner cartridges; therefore, businesses operating in Wales MUST either create, or make use of an active toner cartridge recycling scheme.
Are you prepared? This law will come into place on 6th April 2024.
The Welsh government states that this law will improve the quality and quantity of recyclable materials collected from workplaces, to match the law that is already in place in Welsh households.
Workplaces will also need to arrange for the separation and collection of other waste including:
- Paper and card
- Glass
- Metal, plastic, cartons and other similar packaging
- food - for premises that produce more than 5kg of food waste per week
- unsold sWEEE equipment
- unsold textiles
If you're looking to avoid the consequences of failing to adhere to this new upcoming legislation, we'd recommend having a recycling service in place prior to the deadline.
ECS offer an award-winning, fully compliant toner cartridge recycling service available to all Welsh businesses looking to meet their legal obligations when it comes to recycling toner cartridges and other WEEE items.
