UK Continues to fall behind in e-waste recycling

The UK is falling further and further behind other European nations in recycling ewaste, despite the continued lack of vital components, high carbon footprint and health impact caused by WEEE waste / Waste electrical items, including toner cartridges. 

According to data from the United Nation's Global E-Waste Monitor, only 30% of the 1.652bn KG of e-waste generated by the UK is recycled - in comparison, Norway recycles nearly 74% of the e-waste that they produced, with Holland respectively tackling over 59% of their waste electronics. 

But why is this? Are we uneducated? unbothered? unable to access appropriate means and methods in order to recycle correctly and at an acceptable rate?

There is, however, a solution to this amount of ewaste that combines both economic and environmental viability; permitting the reuse, repair and refurbishment of electronics, and bringing down many of the barriers which prevent these methods from being used.
